My hubby and I took a little trip last weekend to celebrate our anniversary–37 years. Nothing to sneeze at. We spent the weekend in a delightful little inn on the Russian River in Sonoma County and then went to San Francisco to the de Young Museum where there is an exhibit of Dale Chihuly glass. It is really rather stunning. Enjoy the little slideshow.

We have officially joined the “empty nest” club. Our youngest son has left for Army basic training and our house is empty. I miss my kid but I am liking the quiet and the ability to reclaim some of the house for myself.
I found this cute web site, Wordle, that makes “word balloons” out of text you type in or you can give it a link to your blog and it will pull words from there to make the balloon. There are lots of options for text, color and layout and it was fun to play with. This is one that I made by just typing in words:
I don’t really have a lot to say. Just felt the need to spread the word.
Peace.
Hmmm . . . where was I? Oh, yeah . . . life goes on . . . and on . . . and–well, you get the idea. Read the rest of this entry »

I had to buy a new pair of shoes. Oh, the trauma of it all! I’d rather go barefoot. I’ve been wearing Birkenstock’s for about 15 years and when I’m in the house I do go barefoot. But I work in a building with tile-covered cement floors and I do a lot of walking on that cement. By the end of the day my feet are swollen and painful. So, I decided I’d better screw up my courage and go look for a pair of shoes that would cushion the shock of hitting the pavement, so to speak. Read the rest of this entry »
I went back to work in January after what seemed like an interminable round of interviews with virtually no response. I like my job and seem to be pleasing my boss and the others with whom I work. It is rarely dull and there are many interesting personalities with which to interact. This part of my life is moving on and it is good. Read the rest of this entry »
Today’s blogging really doesn’t have anything to do with that extremely bizarre movie. It has to do with the fact that I spend too much time living in my head (and when I think about that I am reminded of the movie–go figure). This (living in my head) can be very disconcerting and annoying–especially for the terribly practical person with whom I have been sharing my life for the last 35 years. Read the rest of this entry »
Today is/was Thanksgiving for those of us in the USofA. It is a day set apart for remembering to be grateful for what we have so that tomorrow, bright and early, we can participate in the frenzy of purchasing those things we do not have and probably do not need. Just a little cynicism here. But that’s not really what I wanted to say. Read the rest of this entry »
